A friend on FB posted this video called This Video Will Change Your Life, and I’m mesmerized by it. I’ve watched it several times, because I think it’s true. Well at the very least it really makes you think!
I used to be so skeptical about the whole, “find your passion and the money will follow” concept, because I thought you had to make a certain wage and live a certain lifestyle to be successful.
But doing something you hate, or even feel indifferent about day in and day out is kind of like dying a slow death.
Will something you’re passionate about make you Bill Gates rich? Maybe, but probably not. But will it make you incredibly happy? That’s the question.
I know a lot of you are starting out in your careers, and some of you might love what you’re doing right now, but as you get older it’s possible your ideas of what you want to do for a living might change, and you might realize that what you thought was your passion, was just something you fell into for one reason or another.
And the worst thing in the world is to get in a position where you feel stuck. Or like he mentions in the video, where you spent so much of your money to try and buy happiness to make up for the job you hate, you backed yourself into a financial corner.
I’m starting to think the Universe really had my back these past four years I’ve been a freelancer. What I mean is, when I’ve applied for full time jobs in the past, I had a MUCH easier time finding work, but for some reason I feel like the deck has been stacked against me the last couple of years when I’ve looked for full time work. I just couldn’t seem to land a full time job!
But I have to wonder if maybe that’s not what I’m supposed to be doing. Maybe I haven’t gotten those jobs because I’m not supposed to do that anymore, at least full time.
Maybe this whole writing and blogging, which started out as a silly hobby, isn’t so silly when I leap out of bed at 6am sometimes to get started.
Maybe this whole layoff turned freelance career is supposed to be MY TIME to really look at my life and see what I’m supposed to be doing…and maybe go a different direction.
Who knows…but this video makes me think…A LOT!
No week in review this week, as all I’ve been doing is working, blogging, and working out when I can. Exciting huh?
