Exhale. July felt like a really long month. That’s not all bad of course since it’s smack dab in the middle of summer, but honestly I’m looking back on it as kind of a blur. I felt like at times it was a bit rushed, or I wasn’t being present enough, or I was sitting in A LOT of LA traffic.
Between on-site jobs not close to my house, jury duty, some events downtown, the Hollywood Bowl (OK so I didn’t drive but I was still suck in traffic in the passenger side)…I need to park my butt in the bubble of the South Bay in August (with the exception of driving to the OC today for a SoCal blogger meetup). I’m honestly kind of pooped. BTW thank you Erika from Newlyweds on a Budget for hosting, and it was also great to meet S from American Debt Project (who just paid off all her debt!)! Great job girl!
In addition to trying to keep my driving to a minimum, I focusing this month on organization. Perhaps it’s the back-to-school vibe that’s already started…but there is something about de-cluttering and regrouping for Fall that makes me giddy. That and Number Two pencils. I still have the urge to buy Trapper Keepers each year (did I just date myself?).
So budget-wise how did July go? Well I didn’t make my projected income, but luckily I squeezed in a couple freelance checks right at the last minute, so I was close. What was really good was my side income, which totaled $1448. As promised, here is how it breaks down:
- Writing: $115
- Gift card I won in a Rafflecopter Contest (Thanks again Michelle!) $200
- Sponsored posts and links in posts: $675
- Personal Assistant work: $220
- Teaching volleyball: $220
- Gympact.com payout: $18
How did I do with my July goals? Well first I decided going forward that I wouldn’t do anymore “official” goals anymore, since I never know how my month will play out, and I’m always really productive, but sometimes the productivity ends up changing a bit and I do other things.
That being said I did pretty much learn Adobe Premiere (well enough to get by if I ever got hired to edit with that program), and we did have a SoCal blogger meetup (although technically in August).
I also successfully completed my Dietbet summer shape-up challenge, but quite honestly I have no idea how. If you saw what I ate in the last week you’d hide your children. I think my scale actually works in reverse. I don’t know what the payout is yet, but for some reason I don’t think it’s going to be much. That’s OK though.
My “reward” for successfully completing it was buying a Ukulele, which I’ve been wanting to learn, but with the busy-ness of work and blogging, I don’t have time to learn right now so I don’t want to spend that money just yet.
Besides, I just bought four new URL’s this past week…none of which I have a clue what I’ll do with, but the ideas are churning.
That brings me to a post I’ll (hopefully) write for Monday about balancing it all…but I have an incredibly busy next couple of days with work so I’ll do my best.
As always, thanks for dropping by!
So how do you get ready for Fall? Does the back-to-school thing make you nostalgic?
