This article is part of my regular series at Debt and the Girl.
I was reading Michelle from The Shop My Closet Project’s post recently about living life in the red. The article brought back too many memories for me. And not good memories.
Back in 2011 I was in serious denial. I had been freelancing for three years after I was laid off from my job at a video game company in 2008, and by freelancing I really mean playing a lot of beach volleyball. Looking back all I can do is shake my head in disbelief.
I think it’s because I was spoiled. No, not by my parents or anything, but by the fact that everything up until I was laid off had been so easy for me. I never worried THAT much about money, and I certainly never worried that I could never find a job if I needed to.
