This post is brought to you by Fatigue®, the new perfume for freelancers, by freelancers. It has the essence of hard work mixed with not showering for a few days, and a little cotton-y smell of yoga pants, and perhaps today’s lunch you might have spilled on yourself but thought, “ah who cares I’m a freelancer and no one sees me anyway!” 🙂 Michelle from the Shop My Closet Project can relate.
Since I’ve been back from my vacation (I’ll have the video and recap on Monday, I swear!), I’ve been crazy productive with regular video freelance work, working on passion projects (shooting new videos for BATB TV), and getting on and off the side hustle train, trying to make ends meet. Last night I had a dream I was flying somewhere and for the first time ever, I missed my flight, and I was on the phone with customer service begging them to get me home, and not charge me extra money. Art imitating life-ish.
While this is not a woe-is-me-look-how-busy-I-am kind of post, I will say that I’ve been neglecting my health since this surge of productivity and creativity (Preativity?) has surged. You can do it all…maybe just not all at once? While I have been working out, I’ve been kind of phoning it in, and my eating has been…in bigger proportion relative to my workouts. And the chocolate…don’t even get me started. I really think I have a bonafide addiction.
And while I’m putting in my eight hours of sleep, the quality is lacking, considering I’m waking up feeling not refreshed in the slightest.
I think something in my life might have to give. The question is what? Everything seems almost equally important: my main freelance editing gig so I can pay rent, side hustles to make up for lack of main gig income, and pursuing what I really want out of a career that brings me joy, but not enough to live on…yet. Oh, and my health, leisure time, and friends!
But, while I sort all that out I think there is one thing I can get a grip on, and that is what I’m eating. I might be cooking up a serious health challenge for myself next month to kind of optimize my diet so I have enough energy for all of those other, equally important goals. Stay tuned…
PS, I’m trying out a free Qigong class tomorrow. I’ll let you know how it is!
