Hey all! Happy almost Fall? Is Fall capitalized? Ah whatever. If it isn’t I’m just going to break the rules. Damn that feels good!
It’s Labor Day weekend and it’s hotter than satan’s ballz in LA right now, but I can’t complain as my thoughts are with everyone in Texas affected by Hurricane Harvey right now. I can manage a little heat. Plus we have Monday off from work so…
Well, the only real money news I can give you is my net worth increased by $2,560 this month. Definitely not as much as I’d hoped, but that’s in direct proportion to absolutely not paying attention to my finances whatsoever this past month.
As I mentioned in my last post, a lot of what has been going on in the last six months in life have just sort of caught up to me. I was hit with a case of the blues, but I’m working my way out of it, thanks to some small life tweaks.
It’s funny, normally I look back on Instagram to help me remember what I did in the month I’m reviewing, but I took sort of a break from social media, so I can’t even really remember.
I did see a couple free movies on the beach. The Karate Kid and Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. I still kind of have a crush on Ralph Macchio. He seems like a real sweetie-pie!
Also, Michelle from Michelle is Money Hungry (formerly The Shop My Closet Project) stopped by while she was in town for Podcast Movement. It was nice to show her around my hood and the beach cities, since I talk about the area I live in so much.
The biggest thing was probably attending the Lola Money Retreat in Portland. Melanie and Emma did an amazing job organizing everything, and the women who were there were all amazing, authentic, open, and most of all liked talking about money as much as I do.
I also (finally) did goat yoga (although technically it was this month)! Something I’ve been wanting to do for a while now. Who am I kidding when I say I’m there to do yoga. I’m really just there to pet, feed, and get peed on (yes, that did happen to me) by cute little goats. Even though it was close to 100 degrees, it was worth it and the goats can turn any grouch’s heart into a soft pile of mush.
Check out this little video I threw together!
For September (and the rest of the year), I’m beyond motivated to save as much as humanly possible. It’s challenging because there are many things I know I’d like to do that would be fun, like taking a dance class, but when those activities are paired side by side with my desire to save, saving wins. I think when you find yourself faced with those types of situations, you have to really think about what is the biggest priority in your life.
The other thing I’m excited about is my trip to Vermont (via Boston for a night and a drive through New Hampshire) to visit the Frugalwoods and shoot a mini-documentary. I’m excited to get my creative juices flowing again!
Don’t expect to see it any time soon. I’m going to take my time piecing it together. Plus my computer is run by the energy of hamsters running on a wheel, so my computer is sa-looooooow!
Well, this was a short and sweet post. How was your month? Are you sad summer is coming to an end?
